naturally dyed easter eggs

Dying for some natural eggstacy in life? Color up! Have a cracking Easter or any day!

 

INGREDIENTS

1 carton of white farm-raised eggs 
2 tbsp paprika or smoked paprika (red)
skins from 1 yellow onion (orange)
2 tbsp turmeric (yellow)
handful of spinach (green)
half a red cabbage, roughly chopped (blue)
half a beet, chopped (pink)
skin from 1 red onion + 3-4 packets of red zinger tea (purple)

 

TOOLS

saucepans, strainer, egg dying cups, spoons

 

DIRECTIONS

  1. Make 1 dozen hard-boiled eggs and let them cool
  2. Mix 2 cups of water with each ingredient, separately, in a saucepan 
  3. Bring each to a boil and then simmer for 10 minutes 
  4. Remove each saucepan from the heat and let cool to room temperature 
  5. Strain each dye into an egg dying container till about 3/4th of the way full 
  6. Stir in 1 tbsp vinegar to the dye in the egg container, mix well
  7. Place an egg in each egg dying container and let set in the dye for 30+ minutes or until the desired hue is reached 
  8. Store covered in the refrigerator
